Recital
November 8, 2003
by Miss Cathy

WOW!!!   What a wonderful recital!!!   Thank you all for your hard work!!!

On November 8, 2003 at the NSB Library, students gathered together and put on a fantastic show.   There were about 60 people in attendance.   The opening song was sung by Jared, Angela, Hannah, Meris, Lolly, and Joan.   They were accompanied by 11 year old Lia.   Next on the program was Maria.   It was her first recital.   She was shy but did a wonderful job.

Monet, at age 6, is a veteran performer already.   She played a solo and then a duet with me.   Tim has excellent stage presence.   He played one slow and one fast-paced song.   Cory is all business when he plays the piano.   His mom turned pages for us.   That's the hardest job in the entire recital!

Elli played two songs.   One had many triplets in it and she counted it perfectly.   Jared sang his first solo with us.   He learned the part overnight.   (We learned on Friday night that the soloist for one of the songs would not be there Saturday afternoon.)   Thank you, Jared, for jumping right in and singing the solo for us.

The singers performed in between the pianists.   They had some very quick costume changes.   When they came out on stage, you would never have guessed they had been so busy back stage.   Michael played extremely hard rhythms for the length of time he has been playing the piano.   Renusha counts perfectly, and is a wonderful partner in duets.

Lauren wrote a song and shared it with us.   It was a deep, scary song about Halloween.   She also sang it.   Thank you for sharing your new song with us.

Joan and her daughter sang a duet together.   How wonderful to be able to share music together with your child!   Stephanie's diligence in counting showed as she played her piano solo.   Tori and I played a long song, and her mom helped with page turns.   Tori played the song just as it should sound, very dreamy.

Lolly played the piano for us even though she was busy with costume changes.   It was her first piano recital.   Hannah and Meris each sang a solo for us.   It's the songs they'll sing at the County Fair Talent Show.

Lia was the last solo performer.   She wowed the audience with her playing.   Our last song was a duet with Renusha and me at the piano.   Renusha's mom turned pages, and the singers all came out and sang.

I am very pleased to say that everyone did a wonderful job.   I enjoyed doing the duets with those who did duets.   There were many accomplishments:  counting, fingering, hands over hands.   Keep up the good work!!!   We had a few last minute changes and everyone adapted so quickly.   You are all GREAT!!!   Thank you to those who turned pages, brought refreshements, and took pictures for me.   I'd also like to thank the NSB Library for the use of their room and piano.
