Bob's dedication to learning how to play the organ is what puts the Spotlight on him. Even though he has been in the hospital twice in the past few months, Bob still comes home and practices his music. He is an inspiration to us all!
Bob was born in West Virginia, but attended grades 1 through 12 in New Smyrna Beach. While in high school, he greatly enjoyed playing the clarinet in the high school band. After 2 years at Stetson, Bob joined the Army and eventually retired as a Master Sergeant in the Army Special Forces. Upon completing active duty, Bob worked as a Border Patrolman, a police officer, and finally joined the Daytona Beach Fire Department. Along the way, he earned a masters degree at Rollins College, was a Boy Scout leader, a charter member of Edgewater Volunteer Emergency Rescue, and most recently a volunteer at the Marine Discovery Center.
After retiring from the first service because of his health, Bob decided to return to music both for enjoyment and therapy. It is one of the joys of his life, along with his wife of nearly 50 years, 2 children, and 4 grandchildren.
