Miss Cathy Imbert
Miss Cathy has a diverse musical background. She started organ lessons at age nine. Piano, guitar, and voice lessons followed. She continued her formal education, receiving an organ scholarship to Stetson University at the age of 17.
In 1977, she was asked to write and pilot a program of preschool music education for use by the U.S. Army. She accepted the challenge. It was a success, and much of her program sees use in many preschools throughout the USA.
After moving to Germany, Miss Cathy started teaching piano lessons at the youth center in Neubruecke. She continued to grow musically by performing in musical shows, and at the young age of 25, became the musical director of "A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum" in Baumholder, Germany. Highlights of her stay in Germany were the chances to play Mozart's harpsichord, as well as Wagner's Piano.
Miss Cathy has done volunteer work in many areas. One of her most rewarding experiences was teaching a summer drama and voice workshop to handicapped children in Hinesville, Georgia. While living in Denver, Colorado, she started 'The American Home Schooled Singers'. They studied music, and also performed all over the Denver area.
Moving back to her hometown, she opened up The Grand Staff Music Company, a school of the performing arts. In 1996, Miss Cathy became a recording artist/composer with her first album entitled "Deliverance". She also signed a record deal in 1997 in Nashville, Tennessee.
Recent endeavors have included writing a music notation book, composing, and laying down tracks to an exercise video. Even though Miss Cathy has several interests, she loves teaching. Students have gone to international competitions, winning several awards, and college scholarships.
In 2004, Miss Cathy spent time as 'Artist in Residence' at Camelot Castle in Cornwall, England. At Camelot Castle, she composed and performed on a daily basis, as she looked out toward the sea and the ruins of Tintagel Castle, the birthplace of King Arthur.
In 2006 and 2007 music books and CDs of Miss Cathy's original music were published. Miss Cathy feels very fortunate that she has had the opportunity to study, teach, and perform in Europe as well as all over the United States.
"Music lessons should be about the student. Each student learns in different ways, and at different speeds. Music is a journey, and on that journey we will work and learn together."
Jenny Marcolina
Born in 1993, in Port Orange, Florida. Jenny hopes to attend a performing arts college, and pursue a career in voice. She has been a student of Catherine Imbert since 2006. She and her troop have been awarded the Presidential Daily Point of Light Award for their dedication and consistent work with the Council on Aging of Volusia County. Personally she has been awarded the Girl Scout Bronze Star and has completed Program Aide Training to enhance her leadership skills. Jenny's interests include art, reading, dancing, drama, photography, gymnastics, surfing, and horseback riding.
Peyton Cain
Peyton is six years old. He has been taking piano lessons since 2006 and has shown a great aptitude for music. He is involved in many activities such as soccer and golf. His team of 3 v 3 soccer recently qualified to play in Disney's Wide World of Sports. It was quite an experience for a five year old.
Peyton is bright and alert and impresses people with his achievements. He is reading at fifth grade level and scored a perfect score on his SAT test in Kindergarten this past year. Touring England this summer will be a wonderful opportunity to encourage and further Peyton's growth in music.
